Huh. I didn't know there were so many little kids with online journals.

Do their parents know they could be talking with convicted killers...or killers in the making?

When I was about ten, I had one of these journals too, and ended up talking to this guy on and off for a while.

I ended up deleting the journal so he couldn't find me. He turned out to be the Boston Strangler.

...Pretty freaky stuff.

But you weren't a woman, so you were at least safe.

While I agree that there are many things on the LA feed that shouldn't be seen by young eyes, the good guys are here, too, looking out for the lieblings. Dig?

Would that old woman who posted a picture of a half-naked man for all to see count as a "good guy"?

Mein Gott, no. If old people cannot even figure out an LJ cut, they shouldn't be on Livejournal.

Ahah! Convicted criminals can be on here, but not innocent senior citizens?

Are there killers on the Internet too??

Of course!

Oh! But I don't think they can kill anyone with it. Can they?

Of course not, meine liebling! A bad person could hurt your computer, but not you. They can't reach!

An ideal world would be safe for all children.

I think we should work towards such a world and allow children to play freely while keeping an eye on those who might mean them harm. Certainly it's not the children who should have their liberties taken from them!

Though I do believe in humane treatment for lawbreakers, of course.

Let them play freely outside, then. There are too many fat children in this country.

Keeping an online journal could be quite educational for a child. I don't think it necessarily interferes with physical activity!

So, why do you believe in humane treatment for murderers?

The "Posts for Prisoners" program has received quite the amount of press in the last few years, actually. I suspect most parents and guardians who let their children stray onto here are well aware of the risks and simply don't care. That, or they believe in the rehabilitation and at least partial reintegration of felons... even those condemned to death row.

Maybe those parents want to scare their kids into submission by showing them what happens if they misbehave.

"Eat your vegetables, or you'll grow up into a criminal and end up like that nice lady you used to talk to online who was hung at the gallows yesterday"....hahaha!
