mmm I kinda disagree. Then again, if I could I would buy a shirt that said my parents beat me and I turned out fine (except maybe for the turned out fine part but that had nothing to do with giving me a smack when I was being an annoying brat and more to do with other shit).
I would smack my kids if they did something wrong. It would be a last resort, you could say. In my childhood, it got to the stage where my parents would smack me if I did something wrong and wouldn't stop after repeated efforts by them to make me but it evolved to them just giving me the you're in trouble, just you wait until we get home look to get me to behave myself. Like, they conditioned me that way I suppose you could say

The punishment needs to fit the 'crime'de_gnomeSeptember 13 2010, 10:00:26 UTC
if I see a kid throwing a tantrum and being a little shit at a supermarket and the parent tells them off or smacks them on the arm (the punishment is clearly shown as being related to their behaviour to the child so that they link the punishment and their action so they ~learn~), then yeah, whatever. If I see a parent repeatedly smacking the kid whose already gotten the message, then I'm more inclined to intervene.I agree. I was quite naughty, and I would have numerous warnings, but after that, I would get a smack. And that was more reason for me to not do something than them telling me 'you're in trouble' to the point where the threat "If you do that again, you'll get a smack" would stop me
