Input please!

 Whilst catching up on linguistics lectures I have realised that what I consider to be normal, everyday words may not actually be words that a lot of people use or even know at all.  When I did that creative writing unit a couple of years ago and submitted a poem to be workshopped in a tute, everybody commented on my use of "archaic" and "unusual" ( Read more... )

Thankfully I've moved on from the workplace where people didn't understand what "anthroplogy" was so I don't really have to do that too much anymore.
The only time I really try to dumb things down is when I'm trying to explain lit theory or poetics to people who haven't studied it. I don't see it as a reflection on their intellect though, a lot of that is technical jargon and I can't recognise the difference between PlayStation and X-Box, so who am I to judge?
You speak like most of my other friends to me, so don't be self-conscious.
