It was a double with cheese and chili, fries and a lemonade. It was amazingly delicious.
The rest of my food for tonight will be lettuce, tea and maybe some green beans. Maybe.
The other half of the burger i didn't eat will probably be finished tomorrow. Or ill feed most of some impoverished african country for a month.
We got there at a perfect time. We waited 5 mins before there were 3 counter seats open.
The ambience was everything I read about;
The porch area had one concrete patio setting, round table and 2 benches, and 2 sets of severely decrepit wrought-iron patio furniture, only one chair had a back section on it.
The counter seats 8, was held together with duct tape and had a tv playing General Hospital at the end.
Miss Ann was slow, methodical and makes a perfect burger.
Scraping tidal waves of grease off the grill into a trough.
Slicing onions directly onto cooking patties.
Sloshing chili onto consumer-grade-oven-toasted buns.
Cutting whole tomatoes onto the final preparation.
Halving burgers with 2 cuts because the knife isn't long enough to do it in one slice.
Telling people who come in to go sit out in the porch area because the counter is full.
So worth it.
