Announcing the 1 Year Anniversary Challenge With Prizes!
banner by mamapranayamaThis time of year sucks to be frank. The rush of the holidays is over, many companies/schools have a long stretch before there are any breaks in sight, and there's flu season. Cue the blahs. Plus, let's be honest, there's a lot of dissatisfaction in the SPN family these days for various reasons. Them's just the facts. So, hopefully, spn_bigpretzel can shine a little light on things and get things hopping around here as we anticipate the One Year Anniversary of the Comm, Coming Up on February 18. Hows about a little challenge/contest with prizes?
While this is going on, don't forget about the BANNER CREATION CONTEST and also remember that it is absolutely cool to mix this with any ongoing weekly themes. We're not that picky. We just want you to have fun and remember why you joined this fandom in the first place.
How will it work? It's pretty simple and extremely broad. Below are some prompt tables. Use them to come up with drabbles, fics, art, recs, picspams, icons, you name it.... I was simply amazed at some of the clever and creative ways comm members used the prompt tables to write drabbles during the holiday drabble challenge. Therefore, I'd love to see how far you guys can stretch your imaginations and think outside of the box if we throw art, recs, longer fic, and who-knows-what-else into the mix.
With these tables we have tried to run the gamut of interests in the fandom while still keeping things within the spirit of the comm. Hopefully, there will be something for everyone - not just the gen only fans or those who are pretty much team Sam and/or Dean and not so much interested in the supporting characters. We definitely do want to have that, but also want to encourage the various ships, angels, demons, ghosts, ghouls, etc. All are welcome to share the pie, pretzels, and beer! Just remember that we are show/character focused here, meaning no RPS or actor-related postings, please Also, use your summaries and tags when posting. They really are wonderous things and exist for a reason. Not everyone shares the same tastes AND there is a lot of stuff on the web to sort through. Sometimes, it is hard to know what to look at when you have limited time. This is your chance to advertise! Summaries and tags are simply your best marketing tools.
What are the incentives? Besides having fun, there are PRIZES! Winners will receive $10 worth of LJ tokens OR some really cool SPN themed merchandise in that price range (will post pics/details later). Winners choice. The posting period will begin now and will end on the one year anniversary of the comm, February 18, 2013.

What Are The Boring Old Rules?
- Tag all entries with Year 1 Partay
- Keep things in the spirit of the comm. Think giggle, aww, or - my fav - some good ole snark (no heavy angst, no soul-searing depression, dark!fic, etc). Think positive. No bashing the show or it's characters. When in doubt, ask a mod
- Please put anything not safe for work, large graphics, or fic larger than a drabble under a cut. Use proper tags, ratings, and warnings where applicable.
- As always, be nice to one another. It really doesn't need to be said, because you guys rock at that and always share the pie. But, I do have to warn you about the YEK. Him hasn't burned anyone on the ceiling in a long while. *is cranky* Just sayin'. FYI

ETA: You do not have to claim a table, or finish an entire table, or do anything 'formal' to participate. All you have to do is use the tag 'year 1 partay' on all your entries. If you do complete an entire table (or more than one) you will be entered into a special drawing, but there will also be a drawing for anyone who post at least once during the challenge. This really is about having fun and generating interest. We don't want to have a lot of stringent rules harshing our vibe ;)
