Who's Hurting Sam or Jared Lately?
We are very happy to welcome kazluvsbooks as our guest reccer this month. These are her recs for the month:
Title: Brotherhood

Genre/Pairing: Dean/Sam
Type of hurt: Blindness, Rape/Non con elements, H/C
Summary: When a hunting injury leaves Sam temporarily blinded, Dean has to step back into his old role as his brother's keeper, helping Sam adjust to his new life while they both wait for recovery to take place. Old roles don't come without their shadows, leaving both Sam and Dean to deal with long-repressed, now resurfacing memories and the grey fields of healthy and unhealthy dependence, limits of familial affection and, ultimately, the questions of desire and longing.
Why are you rec'ing this story? Brilliantly written fic with so much Sam/Dean codependency and emotional pain. Sam's blindness is portrayed with so much feeling and major Dean angst. The writing is almost poetic.
Anything else we should know? This story is a Sam/Dean fic with no graphic sex scenes (past wincest underage) It's on AO3, so available to download.

Why are you rec'ing this story? This story is equal parts hot and sad, both Sam and Dr Cara are beautifully written. Lots of anxious, angsty Sam.
Anything else we should know? This story is a Sam/Dr Cara fic with sex scenes. It features skinny Sam and post cage (sexual) trauma.

Summary: Jared is pretty sure he was insane even before he was abducted. Not many people can survive a global pandemic with their minds intact. For a long time, it’s just Jared alone in the room, tended and manipulated by an unseen force. And then Jensen comes.
Why are you rec'ing this story? This blew me away! It's is a stunning piece of work. The writing is clever, manipulative and beautiful. This story features a lot of hurt!Jared and isn't always easy to read, but it's told in a way that has you utterly intrigued from the start to finish. It's psychological torture at its finest."
Anything else we should know? The author has also posted some additional segments to the story, which are also excellent. Nurturance, Cultivation and Control.

Why are you rec'ing this story? I was recently going through my delicious account of fics and was craving older episode tags. This one popped up and I reread it again and remembered why I loved it so much. She has a way with being able to write any episode tag easily; giving us our much needed comfort that the show often leaves out. This is a good look at Dean's thoughts and feelings during Home.

Summary: Sam has an imaginary friend from a young age, in fact, it's his only friend. He is withdrawn and shy around anyone that isn't his dad or Dean. When he's fourteen, John comes to the conclusion Sam is ill in a way that John can't fix and has to send him to an institute for 'disturbed youth'. However, Dean isn’t entirely convinced that Lo is as imaginary as everyone assumes.

Why are you rec'ing this story? This is the third time I've read this story and it's just as heartbreaking as the first time. Watching Sam withdraw and doubting himself, trapped and alone just tears my heart!
Anything else we should know? Umm there are references to mental illness and suicide which may be triggery for some readers and John isn't portrayed in a very nice light.

Why are you rec'ing this story? Well, it blew me away. Second person POV tends to distract me from the story, but it so didn't happen here. Rather, it made the whole fic more compelling. Sam's issues are unraveled slowly, the style is captivating and dark.
