Hello, my name is Cherie, and I am a Genevieveoholic. When I first envisioned this reclist, it was going to be femmeslash and then I realized all the femmeslash I liked coincidentally had Genevieve Padalecki in it because I have, oh, the slightest of crushes. So I was like, "YAY, I'LL JUST REC GENEVIEVE FICS IN GENERAL! THEN I CAN HAS ALL THE GENEVIEVE PAIRINGS!!" And then I decided I would read every single Genevieve fic I could find-which I did, literally, because it's finals week and I clearly didn't have anything better to be doing with that time. ANYWAY. I read a ton of Gen fic this weekend, and I do NOT mean the kind with no fucking. You guys are so lucky my chat put their foot down and insisted I narrow this down to 10 recs, because my original plan was to throw 19 fics at you. Ask me about my mental health! Why I rec: This fic, you guys. I'll come clean and confess I really hate apocalypse fic usually and had this been a pairing less rare or dear to my heart, I would have skipped right on by it. Which would have made me the loser. This story is incredible-the atmosphere, the plot, the relationship dynamics, the characters. I got so emotional reading this that at one point I whimpered out loud, like a whale caught in a net. Whether this is a pairing you enjoy or no, whether you like the genre-it doesn't matter. This fic is the kind of good that transcends all those reservations. It's a million little emotional jabs to the heart with a hopeful ending that is hard won. Also, the characters are great, and I don't just mean Genevieve (though seriously, how about her? *___*).

Why I rec: Come on, look at that summary. This fic delivers on all the adorable, cracky promises in the summary. The story is funny and sweet, and the characters have a wonderfully realistic grudging friendship that is equal parts amusing and heart-warming. Plus, the slow discover of romantic feelings just makes me want to cuddle things. No, really. I only just finished reading this. Don't get too close or I will cuddle you.

Why I rec: I'm going to go ahead and say that if there can be classics in a pairing as rare as this one, this is *the* classic Genevieve/Adrianne fic. As a huge fan of the pairing and a late comer to femmeslash, this story also holds the special spot in my heart of being the first femmeslash I ever read. Its merits go far beyond my emotional ties, however, I assure you. Aside from how great the idea of a spontaneous road trip non-au fic is, the relationship it reveals is so wonderful-halting and tentative but somehow with an undercurrent of inevitability and tenderness. Nothing in the story seems like it should be a given logically, but the way it unfolds just leaves you so completely convinced that it's real in all its fragile beauty. Really, just a lovely fic to lose yourself in.

Genevieve is such an elegant, alluring figure in this story-she's absolutely intoxicating and Danneel's attraction to her is so easy to share as you read it. And, now, I don’t want to say this porn scene has stayed with me since the story posted and forever haunted my bunk visits, but there's a good chance it probably did.
