Summary: Sam learns that his other senses is much better when he no longer can see.
When people said that when you lost one of your senses the others became enhanced, and it was true. Sam noticed quite soon that those he had left were more sensitive. The sounds seemed stronger, he found it easier to distinguish smells, and somehow he seemed to feel the difference in different textures and his taste buds was higher.
It took a while before he made a few reflections, but it was probably understandable. One could say it was an awful way to lose his sight and eyes. Sam did not know how he would be able to handle it to hundred percent yet. Of course, he was certainly glad to live at all. It could have gone so much worse, like some of the others. And he had thought that Dr Benton was a solution for Dean.
When Sam was discharged from the hospital, Dean had driven them to Bobby's. Until that Sam could get something of his own, it was one of the best places he could stay because he knew roughly what it looked like there. Not that he once again managed to stumble and go into a lot of things. His legs wore numerous bruises.
Much depending on how it was all Sam knew that Dean wanted them to be there to spend the last time that Dean had left of his year. It had shrunk drastically, and Sam tried to handle everything in the best way as possible. He let Dean fuss over him, although on several occasions it made him frustrated, but he had decided to never lose it in front of his brother. A few times he did it and lucky Dean and even Bobby took it well. Like it was expected, which it probably were not surprising. The life had turned around so much and he still had a very long way to go.
The food had been exposed for him long before he tasted it. As soon as Dean had put the knife in the meat and vegetables had he known what it was by the smell. Dean had a bad habit of always like to have him around, so when he cooked Sam had to be nice and sit at the table and talk about whatever Dean come to think of.
"Please taste this tomato," Dean said as he grabbed Sam's hand for him to know where the tomato was.
Sam took it, stuffed the piece in his mouth to figure out what Dean really wanted him taste it for.
"What do you think?"
”It’s sweet. Are it the same as normal or did you find some new?” Sam asked politely.
“They are new. Instead of being round they are more elongated. I think I like them.”
“They good. I could have not... make out the differences if I hadn’t taste it.” Sam had been so close to first said look, but that had been so wrong as he didn’t see it.
