The only one I could think of was the Dukes of Hazzard car - a 1969 Dodge Charger 440. :D Though not in any movie/tv show that I can recall, Pontiac GTOs are pretty fly too. 1965-67 especially.
Thank you so much. I might check out the Pontiac, but I think I'll probably go with the General Lee. Dean strikes me as the kind of guy who would be a total fanboy. :D
As for what Dean might've seen in movies or TV... given what we know of his TV-watching habits, I'd bet he's well-familiar with both the General Lee (1969 Dodge Charger) on The Dukes of Hazzard and the 1974 Ford Grand Torino on Starsky and Hutch. :-)
Thank you so much for such a quick answer. I went to the wiki site and was just so overwhelmed. I didn't really know what might be an appropriate alternative for Dean.
I've done a little looking into muscle cars, and if you want to get really jokey, one thing you can google is the phrase "pony car." As Kripke sumamrizes on the S1 DVDs (disc 6), Mustangs are considered by the general public to be the rough-and-tough myuscle car, thanks to media exposure like Bullitt. But within the muscle car community, there's a certain disdain for the Mustang and its cutesy ilk, hence the term "pony car."
So, it might be funny, adolescent Dean thinking he wanted a Mustang, until such time as he clued into the fact that Mustangs are the pink sparkly bicycles of musclecardom.
(Personally, I go for the 1975 Firebird, but the whole Mustang thing is hilarious.)
My vote? The 66 Pontiac Catalina 2+2, but that's just because I have one myself and I love her. She's not rilly a muscle car. ;) The GTO is hot, gotta agree with cherry up there: Check out the movie xXx (otherwise pretty crappy, Vin Deisel, 2002) for a really pretty one with a new paint job. Considering Dean's attachment to late seventies/early eighties rock, you might want to check out The Last Muscle Car, the Pontiac Trans Am. A black Trans Am can be a major chick magnet, at least for the right kinda chicks.(can you tell I'm a pontiac girl at heart, btw?)
