Castiel is mystified and it must show on his face because his brother rolls his eyes. "Keep up, Cas. The chap that does the commercials was one of Crowley's lot." He tosses the box back inside, closes the door, adds, "I keep forgetting that sigil is only one mark away from the one for the broom closet."
We wanted this to be so trippy that you really would all be taken by surprise. I love the idea that Hell might really just be another version of the World (and vice versa...!) and we did use a lot of humor in this section as a way to try to leaven the pathos... I'm glad it worked for you!
Guys I can't find the right words to describe how awesome this is! It is everything and more than I hoped for after I found out Cas' plan! You scared the crap out of me when Cas started to forget, but even that was good because then it was more powerful when everything came back to him again. And Gabriel! And Balthazar! OMG it was so good to have them back! And centuries! Jesus, that was painful! Dean my poor bb! :'( I'm not really in the state of mind to form coherent sentences, but I wanted to say thank you!
ps: I will hold you personally responsible for the huge gaping hole in my side where curiosity, excitement and worry will gnaw their way out of my body during the weekend, waiting for the update. Just FYI
When there are so many fics out there it can be really difficult to do something new that reads totally unlike anything else, and that is very much what we wanted to try to achieve with this. I see it almost as a Tim Burton rendition of Hell: totally crazy and a real trip... I'm glad it worked for you because there were a few wobbly moments when we thought we were in danger of jumping the shark with it!
Gabriel, Balthazar, and Castiel in armor!!! Be still my beating heart. Not to mention the Impala full of grace! I'm literally agog!
Every time Cas slams his hand against the scar on his chest, I picture the scene in POINT OF NO RETURN when in order to take out the five angels in the warehouse, Cas carves the banishing sigil onto his chest. Very effing hot image.
You both have woven a truly horrific image of Hell. But at the same time, I can also appreciate how pedestrian it turns out to be with the comparisons to toll booths, Crowley's "manor", check points, and the badly paved roads. And yeah, it is a little (a lot) like New Jersey.
Hey bb! Yeah, we did want to juxtapose an image of (sort of) traditional Hell with a more mundane landscape in which things exist and just sort of go about their daily business... Hell as a real world rather than just fire and torture chambers. And fuck yeah, angels in armor! \o/
The imagery of this story amazes me! I feel like I can see everything so clearly. And the artwork matches so perfectly. My life has been taken over by this.

Can't wait to hit the continuation!
