Hi:) The commonly used age ratings are based on the USA MPA film rating system; some people are more familiar with the Archive of Our Own content rating (which has no PG equivalent). I'm listing both systems below for reference; you can use whichever you're more comfortable with.
Rating is up to your own discretion, but it's highly recommended to use a higher rating if your work contains gore, explicit sex or bloody violence. When in doubt, err on the side of caution. (One person's warning is another person's enticement, so you'll be doing both sides a favour;) You can use the rating in combination with a short description to clarify, for example: R for show level violence.
USA Film rating system / AO3 rating system G / G - General Audiences: suitable for all ages. Safe for work viewing.
PG - Parental Guidance Suggested: may not be suitable for children. Still safe for work viewing, but maybe not in a school environment. For instance: minor injuries.
PG-13 / T - Parents Strongly Cautioned / Teen and Up Audiences: may be
