BETA-READER POST

Mar 01, 2008 12:56

Everyone knows that beta-readers are like angels sent from up above to make sure that most of our typos and plot issues don't go by unnoticed. Therefore, we at spn_s1_ficathon have decided to give authors the opportunity to either A) request a beta reader for their story or B) submit their willingness to beta for someone else.

If Requesting a Beta-Reader:
1. Provide your Username/Penname as well as an email address where you can be contacted.
2. Because this is for the spn_s1_ficathon, we ask that you do not request a beta reader here for any story other than your submission to this fic-a-thon.
3. Give a short summary of your story, as well as its rating, pairings, and warnings, so that the potential beta reader can stear clear of areas (such as slash, adult content, etc.) that they do not wish to beta.
4. Detail what it is you are looking for a beta-reader to accomplish. If grammar/spelling is your weakness, let them know. If you are looking for plot consistency, the same thing goes.

If Desiring to Beta-Read:
1. Provide your Username/Penname as well as an email address where you can be contacted.
2. List what you are willing and unwilling to beta. This can include pairing preferences, rating preferences, character preferences, etc.
3. Include your general turnaround time.
4. Detail any past experiences you have had with beta-reading as well as your personal strengths in correction so that an author can find a beta whose strengths best match their weaknesses.

Additionally, authors looking to find a beta reader might try spn_betas.
