Hi,

I've had a look through the posting schedule and the FAQ and I didn't see if this had been answered. Is there going to be a pre-sign up idea swap? In case people don't have ideas or if they have too many ideas and are willing to give away plot bunnies to people who might not have them?

I started this question not knowing what I wanted to write and in the middle of writing it got an idea but I just wondered as the two bangs I've been involved with before have both had these pre-sign up plot bunny swaps.

Also, is it okay if you're using a Historical Novel as inspiration? I wanted to use Affinity by Sarah Waters as a stepping stone but I don't want to re-tell her story, just use the setting. Is this going to be okay? *really wants to write about the Victorian Prison system and Dean*

Yes, there will be a plot bunny post. We were actually planning on posting it today.

Yes, you can use novels or films as inspiration. Your idea sounds absolutely amazing, and it’s definitely okay. Also, I didn’t even think to add those questions to the FAQ, so I’m sorry about any confusion you may have had.

That's okay and thank you so much for the answers and your prompt response.

I also just wanted to check something for a friend. I'm assuming that the fics can be historical/supernatural - i.e Cas can still be an angel, Sam and Dean can still hunt demons? So they don't have to be 100% realistic in that sense but just realistic to the time period?

This is probably really obvious but it can't hurt to ask.

Okay, here's an odd question. Last year I wrote a historical AU for spn_gen_bigbang. I started a sequel for the same challenge for this year and then realized that it's not quite gen enough to qualify (too many characters who are single in canon are married in the fic). I would love to submit it here, but the snag is that Chronos has pulled Dean of Winchester and Brother Samuel from 1150 into 2005. Does it still qualify if I'm telling at least part of the story from the medieval characters' POV, or would I need instead to try to come up with another story set in the twelfth century? The beginning is set at a Ren faire, if that helps....
(Wish I'd known this was coming before I decided to submit two period crossovers to other BBs and a John Wayne fusion to spn_cinema! Ah well. Just reread the FAQ and saw that crossovers aren't allowed. Neeever miiiind.)

Editing again (sorry) to add that if the sequel I've started won't fit here, I've just been attacked by another plotbunny that might. So.

It may work depending on how much was set in the medieval time frame. If 90% of it was set in 2005 that wouldn't be fitting. However, if about 45% of it was set in the past, and it was spaced in a way it was very prevalent to the story it could work even though the majority of it would be in the present.

It would really be you working with discretion, however, we're willing to work with you on it too. Even if you decide to go with your other plotbunny, the story sounds amazing, and I can't wait to see it in the future.

If you want to discuss it more in depth without giving away the story here, feel free to pm me.

Does the 1940's/1950's work as time period?

Yes, that definitely works.

About crossovers, can a rps mesh with an event that actually happened and the people that actually were there. Like I wanted to do a story about the NFL before it was a big deal. So I was thinking putting Jensen and Jared on the 1939 Green Bay Packers team but I want to make sure that didn't go against your crossover rules.

No, that works fine. We wouldn't consider using a historical event as the backdrop to be a crossover.

Sorry it was difficult for you to read. I suppose my screen is lighter than others because it was perfectly legible, but I lightened it.

(I was just going to mention the reading difficulty, but I've been beaten to the punch.)

That being said, I'm really excited about this challenge! But I'm not so excited about the fact I have to decided between art and writing. Kindofa bummer. But art I shall!

If you would like to do both, you could always claim a fic during the secondary art claims if you don't want sign up as a pinch hitter.

Nah, that's okay...I'll roll around in my lovely first-round art fun. Thanks, though!
