Summary:  Since I can't wait for Kripke to do it, I'm bringing Dean back by myself.

The room was fairly nondescript.  The walls were a beige-y gray, the carpet slightly darker.  There were rows of chairs like an airport or a bus station, but he was the only one there.  There was one brown door on the wall to his left, and one on the wall to his right.  He didn't know where they led.  It never occurred to him to check.

He was waiting.

There was nothing else to look at, so he watched the clock.  The second hand glided dependably around, but the minute hand never moved.  It was 4:53.  It had been 4:53 for at least the past 20 rotations.  He didn't know for sure how long he'd been sitting there, or where he was before.  Didn't remember arriving.  It was as if he had always been in the room, and it had always been 4:53.  It didn't matter.  He was content to wait.

With a loud click, the minute hand jumped forward and the right-side door opened.  A man stepped through who was the personification of the waiting room, gray and beige, strangely comforting in his very neutrality.  "Mr Winchester!" he exclaimed, "It's a pleasure."

Dean stood and shook the outstretched hand.  "I'm sorry," he said, embarrassed by his confusion, "Is this Hell?  I think I'm supposed to be in Hell."  He couldn't remember coming to the room, couldn't remember how long he'd been there, but Hell is not the sort of thing you can forget entirely.  He had made a deal,  and it was very important that he keep up his end.

The man chuckled.  "Oh no.  You won't be going back there."

Dean's heart clenched.  Something had gone wrong.  Where was Sam? What had happened to Sam? "No! The contract!  I can't-"

"Shhhh," murmured the man.  "Your brother is fine.  The contract is broken."

"How? We tried everything."

"Everything in your power, yes."  The man smiled.  "This, however, is what the lawyers like to call an Act of God.  It's quite a useful little clause.  You know...if you happen to be God."

"Are you-?"

"No, no." the man chuckled,  "I'm just a messenger.  Here to tell you the good news.  Now, usually, He doesn't get involved with Hell's contracts - free will and all - but you happen to be a special case.  You see, He has a Plan.  It's rather important, and you have a role to play.  If you agree, of course."

"If I agree?"

The man grinned.  "As I said - Free Will.  You always have a choice, Mr. Winchester."

Dean nodded. "What do I have to do?"

"Just walk through that door," the man said, gesturing toward the left side one, "You have work to do."
