Please consider this a posting that kills two birds with one stone. Each of the stories here is highly recommended as an enjoyable read on its own. However, since I am a bit of a podfic aficionado and since the podfic challenge at
amplificathon is currently going on, I thought I would be a little proactive and rec stories that each of the authors have ALREADY granted permission to record! Two have even granted blanket permission (see below notes). It is my rather selfish hope that this tidbit of information inspires some industrious podficcer to record one or more of these, some of my favorite stories, for the challenge. Hint, hint, hint.
Note to podficcers: If you do decide to record a story mentioned here you should probably let everyone know in the comments so that no double recording happens.
Gen
Massé Shot by
road_rhythm, Gen, PG-13, 11,500 words. A skillfully told tale with delicious helpings of Hurt!Sam and Hurt!Dean. Attention podficcers: This author has kindly granted blanket permission to record her stories. Author’s stipulation - please link the author to the final product.
Summary: In a little bar in Nowhere, New Mexico, Dean Winchester makes a miscalculation. Sam has to survive it. Neither of them knows yet what they've lost.
The Price of Renovation by
st_salieri, Gen, PG-13, 21,876 words. An excellent Sam-centric piece that pulls you into another world and doesn’t let up until the end.
Summary: Sam wakes up after a hunt to find his brother missing. Even worse, it appears that - according to everyone else in the world - he has never had a brother. Sam sets out on a quest to find Dean while dealing with the knowledge that he is the only one who remembers that his brother ever existed. As the world falls apart around him, Sam struggles to find his brother while managing the vivid dreams he has of Dean and trying to maintain a grasp on his own sanity.
J2
The Long Seduction by
sonofabiscuit77, Jared/Jensen, NC-17, 57,000 words. A riveting tale of deceit, lust, heartbreak, and even more deceit. Addictive and engrossing! Attention podficcers: This author has kindly granted blanket permission to record her stories.
Summary: Jensen Ackles is the ruthless high-stakes litigator at the top of his game; Jared Padalecki, the ambitious but inexperienced lawyer personally recruited by Jensen; and Jeff Morgan, the billionaire businessman and target of a massive multi-million dollar lawsuit led by Jensen. All three stand to gain or lose more than their reputations in the cut-throat world of high-stakes litigation. But when you’re willing to do anything to win, nothing is clear cut and no one is squeaky clean. Loosely based on season one of the TV show, Damages.
Vesti la Giubba by
cherie_morte, Jared/Jensen, NC-17, 26,747 words. A sweet and surprising story about two people with secrets.
Summary: Tartarus is not the first circus Jensen's worked, but it's certainly the creepiest. After months without work, Jensen's not really in the place to be picky, so he takes the contortionist job he's offered and rolls with it. The people aren't bad at least, and the ringleader, Jared, is as hot as he is mysterious. Jensen won't complain about a job that feeds him and gets him laid regularly, and it's not like curses are real, anyway.
All the Way Home by
peggy_lane, Jensen/Jared, NC-17, 36,000 words. A quiet story that’s both well- written and beautifully fleshed out. Both characters are well done, but I especially enjoyed Jensen here, who was engagingly sympathetic.
Summary: When his life went to hell, Jensen left Dallas and moved to the small family ranch to start over. It's a lonely, solitary existence until he hires Jared to help out around the place. Jared's a temptation that's hard to resist and Jensen finds himself beginning to live again. But ranching isn't his calling, and Jared's running from some demons of his own; he's not the type to stick around. They're temporary, and Jensen thinks he's fine with that, but letting go has never been so hard to do.
Sam/Dean
Treasure by
sonofabiscuit77, Sam/Dean, NC-17, 48,000 words. INCREDIBLE world-building, characterization and rousing action/adventure in this tale of mutants gone amok. Attention podficcers: This author has kindly granted blanket permission to record her stories.
Summary: It’s 2018 and the human race is almost extinct, wiped out by a mutant threat not even the angels saw coming. Sam and Dean live on a military compound, one of the few remaining human communities still fighting for survival. Dean is one of the military leaders, dedicated to wasting as many of the mutants he can, while Sam, permanently injured and confined to the base, is desperately searching for the answer that will save what’s left of humanity, and finally bring both boys the peace they crave.
