This is the first in a series of posts about the more niche aspects of fandom. Thanks to obstinatrix and the other mods at spnroundtable for letting me have my say.
Why Mishalecki?
There are a few ship portmanteaus that are acceptable but Mishalecki goes beyond this into awesomeness. Say it aloud. Roll it around on your tongue. It’s like a little slice of heaven. It is mellifluous, dulcet, honeyed. As silky as Jared’s hair. Yes, I mainly ship Mishalecki because it sounds cool.
No. Wait. That’s not all. One of the key elements of Mishalecki that appeals to me is the idea of smart people doing baddirtywrong things with each other in a variety of bizarre and wacky ways. Also, it seems to ship itself, if you are of a non-AU persuasion, as Jared and Misha are prone to shenanigans, for example, the Words With Friends bet. They like to grab each other, in delicate areas, and many of the stories Misha tells of “pranks” on set are about how Jared likes to fondle his balls, pull down the scrubs with one foot and, memorably recorded on the Season 5 gag reel, try to kiss him.
I like Mishalecki because it is often fun and light-hearted and, above all, snarky. Some of the best writers in fandom also indulge, which makes the quality of fic in the pairing very high indeed. Brought down by yours truly of course.
There is also a size kink thing going on and much of the fic has bottom Jared for those who enjoy that (like me).
For me, it sorta began with Misha bending Jared over and writing his name on him. For charity.
Then they couldn’t keep their hands off each other…

The gorgeous description in these three fics just about exceeds the amount of sheer, steaming heat that these exude. A truly masterful trilogy that explores some of the dynamics of top and bottom.
tiptoe39 recently ran a Mishalecki pearl-string which has little pearls of fic! I have to recommend because they are hotlikeburning.
