I was reminded that some women can still find me attractive, even when I don't work for it. I had forgotten all about that. I had forgotten that I still have qualities that some people find desirable, and not because I "play the game well," but because I just know how to treat people.

In the competitive world of dating -- and especially for us con-types -- success is often measured "by the weight of your gold" as it were. All too often one's character and nature are overshadowed by his personality and charm. I can speak from experience when I say what a hollow and meaningless state of affairs that can lead to.

It's not often that I get the chance to meet someone who is not comparing me to every other prospect in the room and responding only to my albeit considerable game. It's also nice to get a positive response when not actually working toward that goal.

Well, now, unfortunately for both of us, she never got the chance to do that! :)

I'm just glad the ass-hattery happened at the end of the night. How cliche would it have been to be involved in a fight at a rock concert? And at our age... we should know better!

When it comes to a technique to prevent fights, that mixture of humor and pity is probably underrated.

It puts the manly-man over-testosterone fightin'-drunkards in their place.

That's something I have not seen before since I moved to this town, and I had pretty much given up on it.

sillie, i've always thought of you like that. i was just never single for long enough (or, erm, brave enough) to act on it...
