Like the others, I wondered how you knew all that stuff - I was in awe of the detail! But so beautiful and so sensual and unbelievably sexy. Those last few lines. And one of the most incredible parts was the thought of him coming back and finishing off the boots. Ooo, wow! Thank you! What was your other prompt - did I miss it?

Thanks G! I did have to do a wee bit of research. I thought Uhura would do the sensual boot bit, and Spock, being, stonger & faster would do a manly brush at the end! The other prompt was a film anniversary prompt from tftspockside, a Chekov story, the entry before this, but I think you may have read it :-)

Wonderful vignette! I really like the description of the process, and her sense of concentration and anticipation. I agree with other posters -- it's easy to imagine Uhura planning a very warm welcome for Spock when he returns. The approach you took is unusual (at least it seems to be among the TOS fanfic I've read)-- caring for the belongings of the beloved as an extension of touching and caring for the body of the beloved person, a sort of meta-foreplay. The mood is hypnotic & sensual.

The Ritual

Wow, that took me back to the ritual of shining my oxfords before inspection when I was in the service! I never heard about the rubbing alcohol. That must be a more recent development. We always used spit [yes, really!] or water with thin layers of polish, and finished up by burnishing with a nylon stocking.

Of course, this vignette is ever so sexy, because they are TOS Spock's lovely form-fitting boots, and you mention the formation of the leather to his feet, and the texture and the scent of the boots. Verrrry nice.

Hmmm. Now maybe Spock returns the favor?

Hi you :-) Thanks ever so! Yes, usually it is spit or water as you know, but in one Military site it said some prefer rubbing alcohol, which gave me opportunity for another "prop". If only I had known about the stocking - sigh... I shall have to think of Spock returning the favour... Thanks again x
