Thanksgiving Schmanksgiving

So Q and I drove five hours on Schmanksgiving to see my family and it was pretty much awesome, if you like squeezing ten people in a bachelor apartment for dinner while listening the toddlers scream and getting barked at to participate in a mandatory stocking name draw for Christmas - which is, what two months away? - and getting teased for trying

I highly recommend living far away from your family. It's really nice. Living far away from friends sucks bag, but far away from family can be positively relaxing.

I was having a jolly time with the waxer earlier today and she was telling me that, in the first years of her marriage, her in-laws demanded (and received) a key to her and her husband's place. WTF? When he was deployed overseas (military) she changed the locks. This story is obviously evidence for a) families are crazy and b) living far away from them can be a good good thing.
