Well. I'm sorta giddy. I just got two MS messages from Assael.  During which he invited me to meet him and see his studio when I"m in the area.   As if I actually even needed any additional incentive to visit NY!   Extremely awesome.  ~ * ~

0_0!!!! How could you miss Sweeney Todd? Oh, you must see this one ASAP! Also, I understand avoiding musicals as a genre, but here's a quick guide for you: American musicals made for the screen are generally more light-hearted and comedic/romantic. Stuff made for the stage is generally heavier. Anything by Sondheim is 98% guaranteed to be full of awesome (even disregarding costumes). Other good ones are Gilbert and Sullivan whose stuff can be really silly and fun, but they were awesome at their use of language (notably, 'patter songs', like "Modern Major General" in Pirates of Penzance, which are almost too fast paced and filled with words to follow, and major tongue twisters ( ... )

There are so many awesome costumes out there, I can't tell you. Maureen's catsuit, any of the 60's dresses from Hairspray, Elphaba and Glinda, etc.
