(two posts from my other site combined to make one giant squee)

Star Trek is fantastic. It's classic, it's new, it's all good.  I was already pretty excited about it, more than Wolverine even, and it did not disappoint!!  I'm an even bigger Spock fan than I already was.
As I said to another friend, true, I think I saw it a third time so that I ( Read more... )

I dunno, the more I see of the trailers, and the more I hear about the new ST, the more made of fail it seems to me.

Weeeelll...
It's done well at the box office. Not a fail.
Even critics gave it good/great reviews. Not a fail.
People who never liked Star Trek, liked the movie. Not a fail.
Die-hard Star Trek fans, like or even loved the movie. Not a fail.

Since so many people are happy with the outcome of the movie, it's not a fail.

But! Don't see it, to be on the safe side!

*chuckles* The majority used to think the world was flat too. Doesn't mean they are right. As for the critics, its the first time I've agreed with Ebert on anything with what he said about ST.

I know several die hard Star Trek fans who share my tastes in movies, and they have a corrosive hatred for this new movie. ;)

Meh, no thanks, I don't read reviews. I only hear them, usually afterwards, as the channels and shows report in on the film industry.

People thinking world is flat because they didn't have the facts about the other side yet? Silly.
As far as the movie goes, regardless of the ones you know who hated it, the ones I've read online and the ones I know, did not at all. So, combined with the critical and financial success, and the success with audiences, the movie is not a fail.
Ta da!!! It's not really a magic trick. That's just how it works, man.

But yeah, don't see it.
