The last time I was there before this weekend (I was hired as a "Reunion Consultant" at T.) was in February. I felt like the place had grown in a lot of trees and foliage and built about a bazillion new buildings. I really miss it there too. We went to the Sidecar for fancy cocktails (god, remember when it was the biker greasy spoon?) and I talked to the owner about how I used to work in the gallery next door and how I water all those plants and so on.
I still call it home...which I think hurts Stacy a little. Even I think it's weird when I accidentally start talking like I still work and live there when I am visiting.
Yeah, sometimes when I'm driving around KC I'll turn a corner and expect to see a Vons or a palm tree, or smell the ocean. I'm kinda glad I'm not there to see all the changes. I resist change too much, I think. Especially bad change like condos and tearing down cool old buildings. I remember breakfast at the Sidecar--and Alison's and the Golden Egg. Yum!
