Gypsy Fashion Concerns

Next weekend I'm going to be at MMRF telling stories. I've lost a considerable amount of weight (though not as much as I would have liked), and the only garb that currently fits me is gypsy-ish. This is fine by me as it gives me an excuse to wear all the rather jingly jewelry I've collected over the years. It also is finally forcing me to get ( Read more... )

Non-scarf jingly headress (i.e. take several coin belts meant for belly dancing and drape creatively around head like a headband and gather with a big gaudy pin)?

My initial thought was very similar to shades_of_nyx. Strings of beads and/or bells artfully woven into the hair and worn as a headband. Possibly draping down over the forehead just a bit.

I like the single pearl/bead in the middle of the forehead-type headband (a la the princess in The Neverending Story) for an outfit like that. I've accomplished that look easily with a simple beaded necklace with a larger charm clipped on a couple of times.

You could also do the gypsy fortune-teller big flower behind the ear thing without too much trouble and it would look very cute on you.

I'll make up more ideas and/or supply pictures if you want. :)

Get some wavy black weave hair (super cheap -about $6 a pack, and you'll only need one.) roll it into a ponytail, and secure it into your hair with an elastic. Keep a piece of the black part of your hair forward, tie on a headscarf, and tie it around the place where the ponytail connects with the real hair. Voila! Instant masses of hair.
