I kind of have a rank-order for trick-or-treaters, but I do give candy to everyone. I figure that if they at least made the effort to walk to my house, I'll give 'em something.
Little kids always get the good candy. Older kids get the good candy if they can pass for 16 and under and are wearing a costume that looks like an actual costume. Older kids who are dressed as "goth teenager" or worse yet, "teenager" and kids who are probably 17 and older get a handful of the junk candy. Tootsie rolls, Sweet Tarts, individual Twizzlers; whatever my girls collected at the Halloween parade that they'll never eat because they have a ton of good candy, basically. Exceptions being if their costume is fantastic and they spent a good bit of time on it. Then they'll get the good stuff, because effort deserves reward.
