Kitchen Spookery

Aug 29, 2010 13:39

My kitchen is your average kitchen. It doesn't have a window though :( so it is rather dark.

It a rented apartment so I can't paint or make a window appear.

Any suggestions to spook it up? Anyone got any pictures of theirs for inspiration?

No pictures, but a witchy kitchen is my idea. Jars of herbs and spices. Interesting pieces of pottery and utensils. Some vintage halloween and kitchen items. Stack of cook books.

Hopefully you can see the vision I am putting out. lol

Removable wall clings might be able to spice things up a bit for you for the walls around. If you can find some cheap sconces to hang on there, that is always a plus and they always look nice imho. :) I find that even doing little things like gathering things to fit a color scheme like red and black help a lot. Also, perfect time right now to start grabbing all kinds of spooky kitchen stuff. Doesn't have to be halloween themed even. My best friend got me a set of silver skull salt and pepper shakers and a whole bunch of witchy and bat tea towels for Christmas at this time.

As for the darkness of it, maybe try to have some tealights going in some fun holders. You can even make some fun ones by painting on them so they cast some shadows on the walls when they are lit.

This is all just a start for suggestions. My shared sympathies on the rental situation (I'm in the same boat) and happy decorating!

Today I saw some Halloween kitchen things (towels, etc.) at a store called Gordmans, but I'll bet many stores have that stuff!

Of course, there's always ebay and etsy!
