Kauai

So can you tell Josh and I are finally taking it easy for a day? We had our massive kayaking trip yesterday and need to lay low after 17 miles of open ocean kayaking. Needless to say there will be a HUGE blog about that, not sure if ANY pics will come out since we had to use disposable waterproof ones. Anywho I digress, that was however one of the most amazing things I have ever done in my life. STAY TUNED! Back to playing catch up!

Kauai The trip from Oahu to here was SOOOO EASY! It was a 20 minute flight and we were at the North shore about 30 minutes after we landed and ON THIS BEACH directly below our condo an HOUR after we had landed!

PS - The point in the distance is also where we started the kayak trip, it is the beginning of the Na Pali coast.

View from our condo

These are our condo’s up on the bluff. This is called Pali Ke Kua beach or Hideaways. Our condos are called Pali Ke Kua.

Josh hopped right in, he is like a fish ALWAYS in the water! (Notice the cruise ship in the background HA HA SUCKERS! Thats how they see the island, they get off in port on the most boring side of the island for 1 day and then just drive around it from REALLY far away)

That night we went to Hanalei Bay to watch the sunset, however we got too distracted by 2 dogs that looked just like Caboose and started playing with them so we missed the sunset. But we got some pretty pics of the bay. In the winter this is a BIG surf spot with large waves. However in the summer it is so flat that they moor boats here!

We ate dinner in Hanalei, I just love that little town, such a surfer vibe. They had a HUGE screen set up on a lawn and they were playing big wave surf movies and all these surfer dudes were sitting out there watching it. We had dinner and shaved ice...all outdoors of course.

The next morning we woke up and went straight to Tunnels, one of our FAVORITE snorkel spots. (It also happens to be where Bethany Hamilton got her arm bitten off by a shark but thats outside the reef, we stay inside! HE HE!) It was so calm and the sun was shining (as it has been EVERY SINGLE DAY!) it rains at night and by 6:30 AM it shines all day with a passing cloud or two. Our weather has been PHENOMENAL! We spent a long time at this beach got in and out of the water, laid on the sand took in the sights and sounds. It’s the epitome of paradise. It was a Saturday, on Labor Day weekend and as you can see there was hardly a person there. THAT is why we keep coming back to Kauai.

The snorkeling was outrageous - tons and tons of fish and HUGE HUGE ONES! Check this guy out he was almost scary big!

At one point we were being circled by these light blue fish, like 50 of them. I was convinced they were following us I was wearing a light blue swimsuit! :)

I love these hot pink and green fish!

Great scenery under water and above!

On the way back from Tunnels we hopped over to Lumahai’i Beach just to gawk at the beautiful water, and of course I take a picture of the adorable dog jumping off the rocks into the water! :)
