Sporty's notes on the Vancouver Olympics - Go Canada Go!

Feb 14, 2010 10:58

I'm going to have to have some outlet for all the excitement I have for the Olympics! :)

Day 1 gave us tragedy and excitement in large doses. My heart goes out to the Georgian team, Nodar's family and friends back home. How awful to come so far and end so tragically at such a young age.

So much pageantry could not entirely be eclipsed by the sadness, but I'm glad there are both changes being made and respect being shown.

Day 2 of the Vancouver Olympics and Canada has a medal! Silver, but it was sooo close!  Big cheers to our three ladies moguls entrants: Jen Heil (she of the silver medal), Chloe Dufour-Lapointe and Kristi Richards (hard luck, but way to get back up there and do that last jump - you made us proud!).

Looking back there were disappointments for individuals, but still good performances.  I'm looking to speed skating to pick up a few medals. And please, btw, do something about the format for the women's hockey - this needless routing of  the weaker teams is embarrassing.

Reporter!smurf signing off for now!

ps. I'm cheering for Japan and Germany, too!|
