GNOME Shell

I'm really trying to be patient with GNOME 3. I remember when I switched from Enlightenment, but I just keep running into really annoying issues.

1) I'm using vertical setup too, yep drag drop is broken if the primary monitor is at the bottom. try moving the primary monitor to be the larger monitor on top (by dragging the black bar in Display configuration to the top screen). Drag drop works in that configuration.

3) edit /desktop/gnome/shell/windows/button_layout value to be :minimize,maximize,close .. that'll bring back the old buttons .. (or you can also install gnome-tweak-tool, it exposes some of the configurations in a relatively easy UI)

7) XML? aint it supposed to be CSS? .. /usr/share/gnome-shell/theme/gnome-shell.css .. i changed my font size and panel background and transparency there.

Right so 1 & 3-6 make Gnome 3 a non-starter for me, I actually run with two externals off my Thinkpad when at work breaking many apps that think they support multi-monitor, Gnome 2 gets it right.

If you miss minimize, there is a better solution then bringing the button back -> middle click on the title bar will bring the window to the bottom of the stack.discussion
