These are very good points, and they resonate with what many fursuiters who I've spoken to about fursuiting say. Pretty much everyone's said that it is a magical experience indeed: transformative in just about every sense, not just in making you appear as something else, not just in allowing you to be something else, but in actually changing the way your feel, your own attitude, by temporarily MAKING you something else

Very well said and discussed. I agree with ALL the points you raised. I made my post more brief, which made it less fine-tuned.
There are indeed lots of furs who are not fursuiters (the majority, in fact), as well as those such as lycanthropes who feel the animal is internal, and that no suit would ever be suitable. Those experiences are of course just as valid in every way.
As to age, I still feel what is said is true. I know awakenings can occur at any age, but the pattern I have seen (maybe its just self selection... I only ask furries I am im-ing or talking with) suggests that for many, the tendency was there as far back as early childhood. Probably best to say that in my experience, furries have early experiences of both alienation and animal-like times.
BTW, would it be OK if I reposted what you wrote above in your entry along with my comment in my own journal? I think it's worth sharing. Thank you. :)
Your post is very much appreciated, and heard... it really shows the breadth of personal experience, and also helps me understand how you work.
I do understand the feeling of feeling different from others... so your post feels very familiar, even if the reasons and the path were very different than my own.
