She glares at him when he wanders into Angel’s office, and it’s not as though he can blame her.  Bloody awkward, biting her because he thought she was evil, only to find out that his source was some ex-lawyer cowboy type who was playing him for the fool.  Good thing he doesn’t care about embarrassment as long as the Slayer isn’t around (and she ( Read more... )

This is just... neat. Sad and beautiful and full of hilarious quips between two people that are a lot more alike than either of them would ever admit.

Wow, you've totally got me crying and I haven't cried over "You're Welcome" in several years. Fantastic Cordy/Spike moment that never happened and shoulda/coulda.

I'm still angry with ME replacing Cordy with Spike (on both shows) just because they were so alike, but I've always enjoyed the few times they were allowed to interact in canon. They could have made a great team in S5 - their own agency working against W&H and their old crew - but ME went another, mostly boring, way.

Thanks for this wonderful, moving moment. Great job!

Wow, you've totally got me crying and I haven't cried over "You're Welcome" in several years. Wow! High praise indeed!

They could have made a great team in S5 - their own agency working against W&H and their old crew - but ME went another, mostly boring, way. Oh my goodness. Now I will never get that idea out of my head. Worse still, I'll never stop being crushed that that didn't happen. That would have been BRILLIANT.

...I may have to write it.

Thank you so much for your encouraging words! So glad you liked it!

That was really touching. I love the way you draw the parallels between them, and the recognition in each other of the same bitter-sweetness. Lots of marvellous echoes, too.

Thank you so much! Yeah, for me this story was about the parallels and also about echoes. So glad those worked for you.
