Disaster prone
When the US invaded Iraq 3 years and a few months ago now, I supported it. I figured that any military action that got rid of a dictator like Saddam Hussein had to be a good thing. Sometimes I wish that I was a better writer. Today marks 7 weeks since Mom went into the hospital. That's a terrible amount of time to have to be confined most of the time to 1 room, or at best, 1 floor. I hope that this new round of chemotherapy is working.

Another biopsy has shown that Mom's leukemia is back. She has not gone into full remission, and will need another round of chemotherapy before they can even think about doing a bone marrow transplant. -

All of Mom's blood counts - white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets - are rising steadily now. She may be able to come home by the end of the week. -
Meanwhile, in the news
This whole thing with Israel and Lebanon reminds me of why I'm really glad that I don't live in that part of the world. Sure, the US is much more vulnerable to terrorism than we used to be, but at least I can go to bed at night without worrying that some radical anti-Massachusetts terrorist faction that controls part of New Hampshire will suddenly ( Read more... ) -
Ups and downs
Most of the news for Mom has been good - there have been no signs of the leukemia returning, her sister is a perfect match for transplant, etc. The one piece of not-so-good news has disrupted the doctor's original plans, however ( Read more... )
