"...and it rained like the sky was crying, but all I could say was 'What a beautiful day'."
Tobias looked up at the voice above him, seeing a smile below a set of the bluest eyes he thought that he'd ever seen. "Excuse me?"
The smile above him faltered. "Well…its crappy weather outside, a gloomy day, you know?" Tobias nodded slowly, taking the time to look over the man standing beside him. "Well, after seeing you, it’s a beautiful day."
Tobias decided that he liked the body, lanky, without being awkward, but that lean, sleek swimmer's lanky. He also decided that he liked the faint blush that was rising on that bashfully smiling face. "Ah. That's nice…? Buy me a drink." He invited before Smiles' face could fall.
"Oh?" Smiles slid onto the stool beside him, gesturing for the bartender. "That mean it worked?"
Tobias shrugged. "If you buy me a drink, I'd be inclined to believe you are quite smooth."
Smiles winced. "Ouch."
Tobias patted Smiles' thigh. "I'm Tobias. And I like martinis."
Smiles gave a relieved grin; held out his hand. "Kevin. And I'll look damned good in your bed." Tobias raised an eyebrow as Kevin blushed. "Uh…shit. Sorry. I'm usually better than this. It's just that you're…" an abortive gesture, "I just really want an opportunity to get to know you."
Tobias considered his empty glass, privately amused, and certainly interested in what Kevin was offering. "You'd have to move the books first. Though, you get used to books poking you in the back after a while."
Kevin stared at him, wide-eyed, and Tobias was afraid that he may have broken the man, like he had done with so many others, scaring them off. But Kevin just threw his head back and laughed. "I don't mind tidying up a bit." The wide smile on Kevin's face didn't seem like it would go away, ever. Tobias thought that, perhaps, he liked it that way.
