Any customer who complains about menu/computer overcharging, especially by cents, and blames the server is cheap and looking for a reason not to tip. I would let my busser finish the table and keep any tip. I realize the principle of it. You could inform the server and when they fix the error they can add it to their tip. You are paying for it, it is your responsibility to care about your money, that is why you are checking the menu. You haven't tipped; it isn't the server's money yet. It's surprising you get any service with your cheap, demanding, 'hold the tip over their head' attitude let alone budget crappy service. No server is going to go out of their way for someone with your attitude, and your "type" is spotted a mile away. Service isn't a right, it is a privilege. Even McDonalds can refuse to serve you.

I honestly cannot believe your ignorance. I'm glad you're keeping tabs of your own dickishness, and even advertising it. I hope someday you work a job that pays under $3 an hour, then maybe you would have a different idea of what lazy is. Until then I hope spending this amount of time fretting over 30 cents puts you in a better mood. Just to clarify... The home office of the restaurant I work for controls pricing, and most menu's contain a disclaimer for people like you. Feel free to cook your own meals, serve them to yourself and you won't have to worry so much about who else is responsible for your own attitude problem.
Wow, I stumbled upon this blog and was taken aback by it, but the comments are... horrible. Why is this person so angry and cursing everyone out? Folks are just telling you the reason why things happen who are servers and you are arguing with them, calling them names. They aren't idiots. It's just why things are done that way. They may not agree with corporate all the time either, but It's how it is.
I can't believe you are all worked up over your bill being off by a few bucks. Restaurants take time to update their pricing. It's well known and happens all the time. I'm surprised the adjust it for you. I don't bother. But I also worked as a server in high school, so I KNOW how hard it is and I know the pricing issue as well as corporate.
You need to chill out... get back on your meds or whatever is going on there... this is NOT a normal reaction.

I don’t need them to tell me why, I already know why:
Because they are SELFISH, LAZY, and UNCARING like you are to not take 20-30 SECONDS to check 2-5 items on the check that we have.
“you are arguing with them, calling them names.”
That’s because of people like you that have NO COMMON SENSE to speak of that your server is supposed to **SERVE** you the items as **CORRECTLY** as they possibly can **IN ORDER TO GIVE GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE**!!
“They aren't idiots.”
They are if I have to explain why they are at fault for EVERY type of overcharge you can get on your check to not have enough COMMON SENSE to know to check the customer’s check **BEFORE** SERVING IT TO THEM.
“It's just why things are done that way.”
NO, it’s the SERVERS that are doing things the uncaring, lazy way. They are **CHOOSING** to do things that way.
“They may not agree with corporate all the time either, but It's how it is.HOW? It’s not how it is. It’s the server **DECIDING

“I can't believe you are all worked up over your bill being off by a few bucksI can't believe you don't just give the customer the few bucks owed then instead of getting a manager to fix the issue if you feel a few bucks isn't important to you. I bet you sure wouldn't do that, would you

Um, if the computer was updated BEFORE the menu, then you were NOT overcharged for anything. Comparing the prices does no good because it means that the MENU had the incorrect price on it. You were charged correctly because the computer always holds the correct prices.

This was 10 years but as a food service worker (who is in college working on a BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING DEGREE and paying for it myself and trying to avoid debt I wait tables and such --> I say this because if you reply you seem like a person who feels that wait staff is less educated than yourself and that you feel that you are better than them because of this.) Computers are updated first. Always. They are updated almost weekly so that they don't break. When there are certain deals going on, restaurants often raise the price of other items to compensate. Legally, in the fun little contract that we deal with because each individual restaurant is controlled by a multi-million dollar corporation, we have to charge the price that corporate sets. End of story. No one is about to check everything against the menu because we can't do anything if it's under/overpriced. Also most menus have a little phrase at the bottom that says "prices subject to change" which legally allows them to do this. It's not us wanting our extra what, 3 cent tip?

Did you forget to take your meds or something? You babbling is pure insanity. Who the hell do you think you are? If I saw you sitting at a table (and you can spot your type a mile away) I would probably have fun doing things wrong just to piss you off and would rather receive no tip and never see you again then receive a 50% tip for being treated like your god damn servant. most menu's have a rediculous amount of items on it and it is freaking rediculous to expect a server to know the price of every item on the menu, let alone expect the computer to make a mistake. Take your self serving attitude and shove it up your ass...

you say you dont want us to waste our time? checking every price to the menu is ridiculous and time consuming. prices go up and down and up again by the month usually. sometimes the older menues are left around. you drank it you pay for it. we are not required to know all 300 items on the menues price. if you are that frugal stay home. can you imagine taking the time to check each and every price printed out on a check for 7 different tables some who want a gazillion seperate checks? you would be far more pissed when it took us 15 minutes to get you your check ( because by the by you are NOT the only person we are serving...we could have 2-7 other tables all wanting us right THEN.) because we were off double checking prices for 6 tables checks.
you are a joke. it is no wonder people are posting links to your blog and talking about the "biggest joke on the internet".
