Author's Notes: Set during Remus's fifth year at Hogwarts. I combined a piece of art done in oil pastel colors with a 200 word double drabble.
It was going to be their first night together as something other than human.
For over three years, Remus Lupin's dearest friends, James Potter, Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew, had mastered the ability to turn into animals. They'd become Animagi for the sole purpose of keeping Remus company on his harrowing nights before the full moon. James, Sirius, and Peter were upstairs, making sure their abilities worked properly, leaving Remus alone to do his homework until evening.
Remus found it hard to concentrate on the scroll on summoning spell theory he was supposed to be writing for Professor Flitwick as he sat in the Gryffindor common room. His thoughts raced, and his heart pounded. His tongue lay thick inside his mouth, and he couldn't answer anyone's questions. All he could think of was of the full moon that night, and the comforting presence of his friends. They would meet at the Shrieking Shack that night, after Remus's transformation. That they were doing this for him was the greatest gift he'd ever received.
There were dangers and risks, but for once in his life, Remus didn't care. All he cared about at that moment was that his friends cared about him.
