Another ping to the BTDT crowd ...

Cleared the 29 week appointment today, and the only thing that I think is outside expected norms is slightly higher fundal height measurements wrt to charts. I'm not freaking out (really! :) ), but I was curious to see how this measurement has gone with anyone willing to share. It sounds like a pretty vague sort of tracking to me, so things ( Read more... )

I wouldn't stress on it, it's so hard to measure accurately something so stretchy as a uterus. If Baby Boo is stretched out, the fundal measurement will be way high. If she curls up for a nap, it'll be low. What they care about is a consistently high or low measurement. If you'd measured 5cm big for the last 10 weeks, that would potentially be a problem, for example. I wouldn't worry too much, though. I almost always measured ahead all 3 times and none of mine were freakishly huge or anything.

Not worrying. *check* :)

It does seem like a fairly unscientific measurement, so I'll just take my cues from the midwives. If they're not worried, neither am I. Look at me zen out. ;)

Awesome. That's what I figured, but confirmation is nice. :)

And yes! Now that I've passed the spotting anxiety months (thank God), the rest has been pretty smooth sailing. I get little wiggles and kicks all the time to reassure this worrisome mom, so I'm much calmer and slower to panic. It's all good. For the first two trimesters, I was so impatient for time to pass, but now, I'm surprised it's almost 7 months. *laughs* I'm not hoping to slam on the brakes, but neither am I standing on the gas. I'm enjoying the ride so far, and the end will be an adventure, for sure.

Extra padding, bigger measurement. Ditto what Elise said. If you have a big spike or measure really big, than there's some cause for concern. Otherwise, don't sweat the small stuff. :)
