Clearly those were the two most quote-able moments at the Gwen Stefani concert.
OH.MY.GOD. It was SO good. No. It was beyond so good. It was fucking amazing. I'm not going to excuse the language even because those are the only words that can describe how awesome Gwen is on stage.
She rose out of the stage on a throne, all posed up like she is on the cover of her cd and she did Harajuku Girls. Oooh! Then she did my favouritist next. She did What You Waiting For and she did it SO well.
I can't remember the order of all the songs right now but she did all the songs from L.A.M.B. plus two I've never heard before. One, I'm just going to call it Orange County Girl, was so cool. It sounded very No Doubt-ish and it was just amazing.
The other one, that she did just before the No Doubt-ish one, was just really fun. It sounded almost like hip hop circus music. lol I thought she was going to do Hollaback girl the way she was dressed, sort of in a marching outfit almost, but she did this song. All I can remember is 'can your man wind you up like this?' and she smacked her butt and I was like "The heck? This is great!"
Ha ha! When she said we were fucking delicious I looked at Charlotte and I said, "Did she just say we were FUCKING delicious?" And Charlotte was laughing her head off. That was my favourite. I swear.
Ooh. Ciara opened. She was actually really really good. She's an amazing dancer.
Gwen wore a different outfit for each song. It was pretty cool too. Each outfit suited the theme of the song. And she got interactive with audience it was neat. When she did Crash she had all the guys singing, "Back it up, back it up!" and then after that all the girls would sing, "You got it, you got it!" It sounded really neat. And she did that with Serious, getting the crowd to sing parts and sing it back.
I was a little disappointed she did nothing to do with No Doubt. I would've really liked to see that. That's alright though. It's not like that ruined the WHOOOLE experience of seeing my absolute dream idol up on stage was just, oh my god.
Most of the people I look up to, I know. I look up to them and respect them because I admire the things they've done, or the way they handle things etc. Charlotte, obviously is one of my role models. Nunzio as well. My English teacher, Bill, he is too. He came from nothing, has moved up and accomplished so much and is still a very awesome teacher. He had nice cushy jobs on the board of education for my region going around doing different things, but he decided he wanted to come to D.A.S.S. Just different things like that, I respect and admire. And my old boss, Nicole. She was the perfect example of how you need to be when working with kids and she treated her staff with so much respect. You truly don't find a lot of bosses like that.
Then there's my one celebrity role model that I just adore, love, and inspires me and I think is crazy talented and that's Gwen Stefani. To see her live and to sing the songs along with her and to realize that I'm not singing along with the CD, I'm singing along to these songs with Gwen herself. It was just too much. I almost cried at one point. I seriously did. It was so very inspiring to see her.
She doesn't need a lot of stuff to put on a wicked concert either. I love Britney, but she has to go all out with the stage, have an elaborate set and pyrotechnics etc etc. Gwen, she just had a stage and a raised bit with stairs that she went up and down, and the floor bit where she'd go down for a costume change. That's all she needed to do her concert. Her energy and talent was phenomenal.
And as nice of a change it's been going brunette for a bit, no. No more. I've got to go back to blonde. lol I look way better anyways. :D
Oh lordy. SO many gay men too! Yeah. All the DDs would've been having a hayday. There was this one guy, fairly flamboyant gay, just on the other side of the stairs a few feet away from me and he was dancing and singing and it was so cute. I was like Awwwww! :D
OOH! She ended with Hollaback Girl. So good. She came out with the marching outfit on from the video that says Bananas down the back and she even had 20 or so people come up on stage during the song. Oh yeah. She had the crowd singing the chant part in the middle. I was like WOOHOO! BANANANNANANANANAS!
She even took the time to try and shake everyone's hand on stage before she left or give them a hug. I thought that was so amazing of her. I couldn't imagine how it must feel to be on stage singing beside her into the mic.
I also couldn't believe how many people were there. I would really be so in awe if that many people came all to one spot to see ME. It was insane.
Actually getting to the concert and home from it was pretty fun too. Charlotte and I drove just into Toronto and then we parked at this mega big mall, Fairview Mall, and we got the subways to Union Station (right downtown Toronto) and that had an exit right to the Air Canada Center (where the concert was). Which was conveniant. We didn't have to go wander the streets at night looking for the center. Not that we would've wandered lost, Charlotte knows Toronto like the back of her hand. Taking the subway is so fun to me. I've only gone on it 4 or 5 times if that, and it's still such a novelty to me. I could never live in a small town or anywhere in the country, because Oshawa is a pretty big city when you stop and think of it. We're starting to connect and grow and expand. Especially with our buses and stuff like that and really, I think in another decade we're going to be looking alot like Toronto and catching up in size. Despite all that though, I couldn't live somewhere as big as Toronto. Like I said. I come from a big city, but not Toronto big. I feel like such a tourist there.
I don't know. I don't know how much more to describe it. To see your inspirational idol on stage and live is just wicked.
We also had seats beside the nicest girls. One of them took a picture of me and Charlotte with Charlotte's cellphone camera so I'm gonna get her to send it to me and I'll show you guys. We looked so cute. I was like, Awww! Actually her phone zoomed right onto the stage really well, but the lights on stage prevented Charlotte from getting a decent picture.
Yeah. If you want a bottle of pop in Canada. The general price is 1.50. That's a regular small bottle you can buy in a vending machine. A can is a dollar. To get a bottle of pop it was fouroverpriceddollars. So heaven help you if you got thirsty and had a dollar on you. Charlotte was mostly mad they weren't selling beer. lol
C'mon! It's the Air Canada Center. It's primarily a hockey rink and home of the Leafs and there's a bar every two feet and not one is open selling beer?? lol She was mad.
Gwen was awesome and under the cut you can read all about the amazing awesomeness.
lol Jacob's watching Video On Trial, a show on MM where they have comedians, music critics, artists, journalists, whatever, cutting up and picking apart popular videos. It's actually really funny. Especially when they do idiots like Sean John or whatever.
Anyways they were just doing Jesus of Suburbia and they got to the end where the guy cuts his hand and the one guy who was providing the lovely commentary says, "If you're going to cut yourself over a girl, make sure she's not an alcoholic that lives and hangs out under a bridge with her alcoholic friends."
I thought that was humourous.
You may now all proceed with your day to day activities.
