Joining the "trennels" read through of Autumn Term I have found myself in a minority who don't see Giles as a "complete bollocks"! One thread of this discussion spoke about the possibility of exploring this in fic; another idea was whether Giles was on duty or off to enjoy himself in the "flesh pots of Port Wade" when Nicola found him; and a third ( Read more... )

Poor Giles. I wasn't one of his detractors anyway, but now I'm even more sympathetic to him. I enjoyed reading this.

Yes, this adds another dimension to Giles. It isn't that I dislike him that wholeheartedly, more that I dislike hero worship when there isn't much there to warrant it apart from being the eldest male and in the Navy.

You've added something useful and entertaining to the conundrum that is Giles and I enjoyed reading it - thank you! What next?

Thank you. You were my introduction to fanfiction, so I'm very happy you enjoyed reading it.

What next?! I'm not sure, it was fun, and I'll probably try again, but I sympathised with Miranda:

I really enjoyed that ! I'm divided on Giles - I enjoy some of the scenes with him, but at times I really dislike him, such as in Autumn Term. This really does put a possible alternative light on it.

Well done on the fanfic !

Thank you, I am so glad you enjoyed it: it was strangely satisfying to find an explanation for the devastating change in him!
