owen had a period of adjustment like that any time he switched schools (4 times in 4 years!) because he has trouble knowing what is expected of him. he won't eat or poop ANYWHERE until he is totally comfortable. he even does this weird no-eating no-pooping thing when we move. his pediatrician deemed it totally normal, but I always add an extra serving of fiber to trick his body into pooing despite his best attempts! hah
