Obama Campaign, Day 1

Well, I got up at five, and was on the road by 5:50. My goal was to get to Muncie before noon. After a pretty uneventful drive, I pulled up to the Obama office in Muncie around 11:15. That was a very interesting look at what a campaign worker actually does. It's (not surprisingly) very similar to what I do at the survey research lab, the door to door contacts and phone canvassing correspond pretty much exactly to our area probability interviewing and phone interviewing methodologies. Once you've been doing this kind of work, you get so the low response rate doesn't bother you any more, it's just a fact of the work, though working with a good list helps a lot.
