I'm really very sorry you have to even go near SLC. I lived there for about three years and, when you could see (or breathe) through the pollution in the sky, I suppose it was alright, for a desert.
Personally, the sky isn't that interesting (as I said, when it was visible) and the buildings less so, and one red rock, after awhile, is just the same as another. Give me Washington anyday of the year.

Yes. Some of my co-workers were all about how I *had* to have a camera for the trip. The mountains in California were nice, but I think we could do Nevada in three pictures: big red rock hill in distance, big brown rock hill in distance, big white rock hill in the distance.
