I don't know. :-( I posted a comment complaining on the latest news post, but I'm having trouble finding a more appropriate place to complain. LJ's support request system seems geared toward technical glitches people experience, not for complaints about LJ features themselves. It turns out any user can answer a support request, it doesn't necessarily go straight to an LJ staff member. :/
I'm pretty sure you can opt out of this because I don't see that Share button and I opted out of the reblog feature when they instituted it a few months ago.
Where exactly is the opt out for the reblog feature? I searched through all the links in my account settings and couldn't find it. I know people where asking for an opt out, but I never heard anything about it actually being implemented. Of course, I don't spend as much time on LJ as I have in the past, so I could have missed it. Do you have a link to where the opt out option can be selected?
When you say you don't see the "Share" button, do you mean you don't see it on your own entries, or you don't see it on your friend's entries? Because I don't see it on my entries either, but my friends see it on my entries. And I've seen the share button on the top of every f-locked entry on my f-list that I've checked so far. :(
I'm searching through news, but not finding it. (Believe me, if it does exist, I clicked that button immediately.) I do know there was code you could implement to remove the FB link, but I don't remember if that was from your own journal or so that you don't see it when you comment.
I don't see the "Share" button on any entries, not mine or other people. But my journal isn't connected to any other service (Twitter or FB), so maybe that has something to do with it? All I know is I've got the nav bar up and don't see a "Share" button.
Yeah, I remember there was a script you could add to your Custom CSS that blocked the option for Facebook comment crossposting from appearing, and I added that immediately. I never linked Facebook or Twitter to my LJ either.
Out of curiosity, when checking peoples entries, are you clicking the "leave a comment" link, the link to read existing comments, or the title of the entry? I noticed when I click "leave a comment", I don't see the share button, but I see it when get to the entry by the other two links. :/ If you cant see it at all, I guess your lucky. Although, I'm more concerned about what options other people see on my journal.
No, I unlocked it to spread the word to others. Feel free link it. I'm surprised people aren't kicking up as much fuss about this as they did about the comment cross-posting thing, since this is waaaaaay worse than that, in my opinion.
thank you for telling us!! (I saw this on fenjer's journal) This is so disgraceful it's shocking - another epic fail by lj that's sure to see more people leave...
I'm going to repost it too, well, a link to here if that's ok - if you'd rather I didn't I'l take it down.
You're welcome. And you are more than welcome to cross post this. The more people who know, the better. I'm actually surprised more people aren't complaining about this considering how upset everyone got about the whole comment crossposting from f-locked entries issue a while back, because this is much worse in my opinion.

Maybe this will work better than leaving comments on news, though I'm not holding by breath.
