July 4th weekend in Rahchacha

Jul 11, 2006 20:36

Since I had an extra-long July 4th weekend, I took the opportunity to see some friends in Rochester. Upon arriving in Buffalo's airport, Liz and I were heartily greeted by Eric, Steve, and Scott. Liz stayed behind with her family in Buffalo, so I got to chill out and catch up with everyone ( Read more... )

I don't think I could agree more to your WoW comment. Everytime I visit Roch, I have to plan around WoW time for a couple of people. I realize that life in ROC can be boring, but there really is a substantial difference between the real world and virtual world, and I fear they don't always see that!

The idea of appointments in video games is abhorrent to me. Games should be an outlet for stress and relaxation, not something that adds complexity and obligations to our lives, particularly at the expense of other nearby people.

Besides, if someone's rationale for WoWing nonstop is that their surrounding area is boring, it's more likely that they're the one who's boring and lacking imagination.

Ahhh, WoW. I also agree. I play it when I have *nothing* else that I can think of whatsoever to do, and even then, not for very long.

I think the guys in Rochester need to live with girlfriends for a while. That'll set 'em straight. If I'm playing WoW, all it takes is a silent stare from her to make me quit, shut down, and realize I have better things to do.

Unfortunately, WoW feeds upon college students. I know, because I was playing it all day, every day, for a while. And I do regret it. I'd much rather have come out to play tennis, or something!

Anyways, glad you had fun in La Cucarochester. I have a feeling I'll never go back there...

I was kind of hoping you would respond, being a WoWer and all. It's good to hear you're on the mend.

The girlfriend plan seems like a good idea, but I know for some it isn't working. Or maybe the girls don't care enough or have given up? Or maybe the guys found an antidote to a woman's icy stare? Hmmm. Anyways, I'm glad Kat is keeping you inline.

Drop me an email sometime!

Of course... Kat eventually wants to start playing WoW *with* me...

And that... Will be unhealthy.

Roch actually has a really neat rock climbing gym and surprisingly nice bike paths....it's actually pretty easy to get to the downtown from RIT in about 20-25 min by bike.

Dude you should download the Star Trek TNG episode called "The Game." I know you don't like Star Trek but it's so funny how similar what happens in that episode is to what's happening with all the WoW people.
