Today is my last day at the orchid store.
My mom and I (she works here too) are quitting at the same time and our boss is going to throw us a going away party at
Dogwood Grille & Spirits. It's one of those restaruants where entrees are $20-$30 each, but everything is free because he gives them orchid cuttings to use as decorations. I'm sure I'll miss it here, though I still haven't decided whether I love orchids or hate them.
After work today I'll be leaving Richmond to visit Pittsburgh and then Michigan for a week. I'm trying to see as much of America as I can before being gone for a year.
For those of you who don't know, I finally found out where I'm going in Japan. I'll be living on Awaji Island, which is south of Kobe in Hyogo prefecture.
People keep asking me about my JET preparations. "Are they going well?" I usually lie and say everything is coming along great, but the reality is that I'm doing nothing -- all that's left at this point is to throw a bunch of shit in a big suitcase and get on the plane.
