So I'll have a little thought exercise. How many of the AFI top movies pass the Bechdel test? (I can't use IMDB, since that is ordered by vote and I think the demographics of the electorate probably skew the results). Remember, the Bechdel test doesn't indicate that a movie is good or feminist, it only illustrates representation. The point is not ( Read more... )

Edit, I looked it up. You know what I notice? In groups of 3, there is always 2 males and 1 female. Never the other way around. I can't think of a time it was the other way around.

Most obvious are adventure movies. You've got the hero, the ditzy/smartalec/bossy girl, and the goofy buddy. Example: Harry Potter.

Closest exception I can think of it The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe: 2 and 2.
