Hackerkitchen
Hackerkitchen last Wednesday was brilliant: CL is an excellent cook, the company was great, and the menu was tasty! It was definitely worth the torrential downpour we cycled through to get there! Nausicaa88's written a much better review than I could ever write, but then she is a trained journalist... see Guerilla Cuisine ;-).

Hyperion, Endymion
I recently re-read Dan Simmons' Hyperion and Endymion series. Brilliant books if you get the chance... Somehow Simmons manages to tie together typical sci-fi ideas such as space travel, time travel, teleportation, and artificial intelligence with religion, poetry, evolution, politics and the emotions of being human.
