We just got a call letting us know that my grandmother passed away at about 3am this morning. Unfortunately no family member was with her as the snow prevented by aunt getting back to the hospital.

My poor poor dad. He has lost both his wife and his mother in space of 11 weeks.

Oh gosh. Oh Lucy. I am so sorry.

This is a lot of loss for you, and your father. I'm here for you in any way you need.

Thanks Gina. She seemed to be doing so well, but suddenly she went downhill. But I am grateful for the fact that until the last few weeks of her life she was totally independent, and even right to the end she was totally mentally there - she did Telegraph crossword the day before she passed away.

My grandfather was the same way. The day before he died he was yelling at the hospital staff that the machine taking his blood pressure was broken (because it kept fluctuating to wildly). He should've been unconscious at the time. There's something to be said for living that long and being that strong.

I'm glad you got to spend time with her.
