Thing Two

Thing two is that pesky lipoma on my back, now removed, as of one week ago. First: benign! No surprise there. That's good. Also as unlikely to recur as he could tell me, without promising it wouldn't (which of course he can't say). All good.

But jesus man, holy crap, do I bleed a lot. After the procedure (which, I must say, I do NOT prefer. I'd rather be in twilight sleep or out totally. Being completely awake and aware as your back is cut open and tugged around - really tugged - for an hour is extremely unnerving.) because the thing was so deep and large, it bled a lot. Normal. ok. T was great with changing the dressing and cleaning it up every day because it's completely out of reach for me. First three dressings were totally soaked in blood. Because he couldn't completely sew me up, I had to have a drain. Blech. Yeah, really blech.

Thus began another week when I had to negotiate semi-awkward sleeping. This time, no lying on my back. Or leaning on it. Or resting it on the back of a chair. My posture has never been so good. And it is exhausting.

Still not really able to do it, even though the stitches are out. Because as I discovered, when you have a hematoma, it's very uncomfortable. It looks like my scar is super swollen but it's just the hematoma underneath, which apparently he has to aspirate out in two weeks. Argh. Two more weeks of uncomfortable fidgeting, possible leaking, and bandaiding ness.

Which also means it's not really a good time for marital relations. Which also sucks.

And now there will be a scar to think about. Sigh. I feel like Frankenstein, I really do.
