I totally agree.

I loved the episode, and SWC was so awesome.

Like you, I thought the opening scene was beautiful, but wasn't too keen on the scene about Bruce. They didn't seem particularly close in that scene, there was something just not quite right. I would have liked a bit more closeness and comfort. I also personally would have liked to see the beginning (and the end) of the scene. I felt a bit like it just suddenly started, and I would have liked to see Michael going to Sara on the boat and see how the conversation began.

But overall I really enjoyed the episode and am so happy we have Sara and Michael/Sara back.

SWC was awesome wasn't she? She certainly knows how to run with the material she's given. I can't say enough good things about her.

Regarding the scene between Michael and Sara discussing Bruce's death, I guess I can see what they were going for, I just didn't personally enjoy how it played out. Like you, I thought something was off about it.

Very insightful thoughts here. I agree with most of it...and like you, I thought the 'one day' bit was a bit simplistic until they tied it all together with the phone call at the end.

I love how Michael can make her laugh, and I'll add that I will also never tire of seeing their phone conversations. They never disappoint.

I liked the scene where Michael is (not) comforting her in the boat, because I thought it was in character for Michael to not know quite what to do with her in that situation. And her body language was very much 'do not touch me'. I thought it was quite an honest portrayal of both of them, unable to help the other at that moment.

Anyway, I agree that the writers are giving Sarah wonderful material this season. No wonder she said repeatedly that after looking at the scripts, she was 100% onboard.

I'll never tire of their phone conversations either... After that first one -which was so amazing- I've loved every single one! It pleases me to no end, right now, that the writers have managed to slip so many little details (hello Victorian hand porn...) like the phone conversation that are great Michael/Sara moments and at the same time call back to favorite past moments between them ( ... )

I would like to think he knows her well enough to combat a moment like that (where she looks both spitting mad and broken) with a little more than 'I'm really sorry...'

I like the way you put this...yes, he should have seen that she was much more broken than angry, but maybe he knew her well enough to know that if he did try to touch her, she would have pushed him off. (And I think he's a little scared of spitting-mad!Sara. I would be. *g*)

Well and then I wouldn't blame him for being a little scared of her spitting-mad alter ego, but I'd just like to have seen a bit more from him... I don't know what exactly, but the rest of their scenes more than make up for it.

These two always have great phone conversations, don't they? *g*

I agree with mostly everything you said here. That boat scene felt off. I know it was in character, but I still feel that Michael should have tried to reach out then maybe changed his mind or something.

They do have great phone conversations! I also love how it calls back to their time on the run... 'First Down' and then everything that came afterwards.

It is certainly true that at times both Sara and Michael are a continent unto themselves - strong separately, and unapproachable even. But I feel them moving past that, and I'd like to have seen him reach through the tough exterior to offer something comforting to the woman he loves.
