I called my mother this morning, on her cell because there's a service outage in her area. When I started talking to her, she sounded a little off, and then she began saying something about wanting to wait until I got home from work to tell me

I'm so sorry. :( I went through this a year ago and it still hurts, but I can offer this comfort - she had a good, love-filled life, and then a pain-free death that was as dignified as possible - this is what every dog deserves and what we owe every beloved pet.
