BUT, i really don't think he's dead. (c'mon, who on Alias ever truly dies?) i was reading someone's comments and they suggested Jack & Syd gave Vaughn this special drug that slows down your heart rate that makes it seem like you're dead... they did that to Sloane (the main bad guy) last season. and i rewatched part of today and Syd DID give Vaughn something to drink right before he died, and w/ that new twist in mind, i totally looked like she was just crushed to see him fake die. there were looks b/w Jack and Syd (at the hospital and the funeral) where it seemed like he was telling her it was a temporary sacrifice...
so we'll see! lol
